Here at Ewanrigg Junior School, we want our children to love music. We want our children to recognise that music is a powerful universal language that promotes unity, stimulates their imagination, and is a vehicle to express and process their emotions. We want our children to be able to access the soothing qualities and to unlock the methods of aiding memory the music provides.

Our Musicians will be able to talk about a variety of music genres and instruments confidently using technical vocabulary, clarity, and thoughtfulness.

We want our musicians to see the significance that music plays in all cultures and communities, locally and across the globe, and understand how it has evolved over time.

We want our musicians to be confident and skilled at recognising and evaluating a variety of musical genres.

We want our musicians to have the confidence to perform, individually and collaboratively, in front of an audience and express themselves through singing, playing instruments, or composing.

We offer all of our children the opportunity to receive free guitar lessons from a qualified music teacher.

We aim to inspire children to have the confidence to experiment with and compose music using a variety of mediums.

Our lessons will provide the children with a risk-free environment that allows them to hear, experiment with and play a variety of musical instruments.

We want our Musicians to have fun: to make their learning enjoyable, successful, and engaging so that they foster a life-long passion for music.
